My name is Penny Druitt and I have over twelve years experience as a dog trainer, running my own training business since 2014. I am commited to working with and promoting only ethical and kind dog training methods, backed up by scientific knowledge.
As such I appear on the Animal Behaviour and Training Council register as recognised Animal Training Instructor, am a member of the Professional Association of Canine Trainers, a member of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, and adhere to the ethics of the UK Dog Behaviour and Training Charter. I am also an approved Scentwork UK Trainer and an Instructor and Assessor for Canine Hoopers World.
I owe my career as a trainer to a Labrador called Charlie, who was very challenging as a puppy. As a result of attending classes with him and also researching ways to focus his energy, I became very interested in dog behaviour and the importance of positive reinforcement training methods. I was then asked by another trainer to assist with some of her classes and subsequently to lead classes for her. During this time I decided to change career and set up Stour Valley Dog Training in order to work with dogs full time.
As part of my commitment to furthering our understanding of the behaviour and training needs of dogs, I attend a number of CPD events each year, including conferences, seminars and workshops. So you can be assured that both my theoretical knowledge and practical skills are up to date and I can offer the best support to you and your dog.
I also hold a certificate in dog first aid and am fully insured.
